Physiological quality in maize seeds using conventional methods and NIR spectroscopy

Maize is one of the most important cereals, and stands out for its wide genetic diversity, adaptation to diverse climate conditions, being, both directly indirectly, basic food source man. Globally, production dependent on seed quality. Known methodologies evaluating quality require improvement in developing technologies capable achieving, less time, results targets under evaluation. The aim this study, therefore, was compare conventional vigour testing with ability NIR technology classify physiological maize seeds, cv. DKB-290-HS. For experiment, which conducted a completely randomised design (CRD), six Batches 200 seeds were used, four replications. Conventional methods used study. evaluation using near-infrared (NIR) method, placed embryo facing electromagnetic waves. resulting spectra analysed by Pirouette software PLS-DA method. vigour, technique efficiently detected levels also revealed differences between Batches, classifying DKB-290-HS, into different quickly efficiently.
